Spring Editing Team
Reanne Sellars, Editor
Reanne is a lover of stories and writing and has been since before kindergarten. Much of her free time is used to find and read or watch new books or shows. You can also find her writing fantasy from time to time. Some of her favorites are Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, the Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman, and the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime. Reanne also has many other artistic hobbies, like stop motion animation and rock painting, as well as less artistic things such as scuba diving, martial arts, and hiking. She came to Arcturus to learn more about how a printed book comes together, and to be a part of this unique project at Highline College.
Thu Pham, Editor
Thu is a first-year student at Highline, currently working toward her AAS with a concentration in Multimedia Design. She dreams of becoming an animator, and she loves anything creative and art-related. She spends most of her time sketching little ideas in her notebook and trying animation to bring her imagination to life, telling stories and sharing real emotions. Art isn’t about perfection—it’s about curiosity, growth, and the idea that imperfect lines or unfinished ideas are all part of the creative process, and that’s what makes art meaningful. She is happy to be part of Arcturus and to be surrounded by so many creative people at Highline.
Jared Bjornson, Editor
Jared has always been fascinated by literature and story telling; be that getting lost in a book, or writing short stories of his own. He often enjoys Sci-Fi and fantasy works, with the works of Gene Wolfe, and Frank Herbert being his favorite. A love of books is something that was fostered at a young age, and has only grown as he's gotten older. He is always open to new ideas and voices; appreciating creative works from all over the world. Jared believes that creativity and story telling is an intrinsic human quality worth celebrating. Aside from reading he enjoys taking care of animals and occasionally playing video games – if time allows for it.
Sonya Jennings, Editor
Hello, I’m Sonya J. Before coming to Highline, I served in the Marine Corps for five years. After reaching the rank of sergeant, I realized I wanted to follow a different path and explore new opportunities. I am now pursuing a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering at Highline. While my studies are centered in technology, I have always had a deep appreciation for creativity and storytelling in all forms. I enjoy games with meaningful story lines, animations with good character development, musicals, and web comics. I joined Arcturus because I wanted to be involved in a creative space on campus, and help showcase the art and expression that students want to share.
Artem Hubko, Editor
Hi! My name is Artem, and I am a Running Start student at Highline College studying political science. I plan to pursue a career in law and have a strong interest in how the legal system functions, as well as the structure of government. I personally believe that everyone should be able to freely express themselves and have the opportunity to create, whether it be through creative writing, visual art, music, or other forms of expression.
Mave Durham, Editor
Mave Durham is in her final quarter at Highline College. In her two years of attending classes, she has served as leading editor at the ThunderWord, Highline’s weekly, digital student newspaper. She has reported on major campus issues, guest lectured classes, spoken on student panels, and read a lot of books. Her articles have been awarded first place at the PNW Association of Journalism Educators 2024-2025 competition. Originally from the east coast, she graduated from Pepperell High in 2019 and received her Certificate in Film from Full Sail University in 2021 (Great timing for that, amiright?). She intends to major in journalism at the University of Washington in Seattle and use her reporting to hold local leaders transparent and accountable. She joined the Arcturus team to experience a different side of the publishing world, both literary and printed. She’s excited to design, build, publish, and promote a legacy literary journal here on campus, much like she’s had the privilege of doing so with the ThunderWord.
Winter Editing Team
Jasmine Nyabigo, Editor
Jasmine is a Computer Science student with varied interests and talents. They enjoy reading (in general), writing poetry and essays, scholarly endeavors, community building, working out, and trying new things. As a writer and editor, they undertake projects with empathy and curiosity. As the ASHC President, Jasmine is regarded as a doer, and they’re known for creating spaces where people feel seen and heard. There is inevitable overlap as every role is approached with comparable intention and creativity. Through and through, Jasmine’s work is grounded in precision, and a commitment to amplify voices.
Katie Larson, Editor and Web Designer
Katie, also known as Caelum, is a first year Highline student and a running start senior. She is currently working toward their AA with a concentration in Anthropology. Her dream is to become a history teacher in higher education. She is the co-founder of her school’s newsletter club and wants to broaden their experience in both editing and publishing. Although their artistic medium focuses on painting, they have been increasingly interested in both creative and academic writing. Outside of school she likes to read, write, bake, and play tabletop games.
Eden Storey, Editor
Hi! I'm Eden, a second year running start student here at highline. From little doodles while the instructor is lecturing to writing my own fantasy novel, art has been a part —pun not intended— of everything I do. When I was younger I loved writing poems and now that love has transitioned to song writing for my band. Throughout my time learning and growing I've learned that it doesn't take skill or talent to be an artist- or even a good one. I may not be the best at any of the skills I've tried, but I'd go as far as to say that art's imperfections make a piece better, make an artist good.
Isabel Lash, Editor
Hey everyone! I’m a lover of all creative works - from punk music to photography to non-fiction writing. However, I spend most of my time watching movies on my projector surrounded by my six pets and playing Resident Evil. I am a second-year student at Highline, earning my AA-DTA in Global Studies. I firmly believe creative expression is one of the most important things we can do as people. Expression connects us;
showcasing our history, our culture, our beliefs, and our ideas. I am honored to be one of our Arcturus editors and get inspired by the creative expression of our own Highline students every day.
