2025 Arcturus Editing Team
Jae Choi, Senior Editor & Web Designer
Spending another quarter trapped in the Arcturus editing room, Jae is spending three more months working on improving the website along with his other editing duties. What he really needs to be doing is getting some math tutoring sessions so he can get his STEM credits in order to finally earn his AA degree.
Ellis Darrow (He/Him), Editor
Born with the unrelenting desire to learn and create, Ellis is a new addition to the Arcturus Editing crew. Hoarding clubs like Pokemons, he is the officer for S.W.O.R.D. club and Queers and Allies club. In his downtime, Ellis enjoys League of Legends, Stardew Valley, various Gacha games Dungeons and Dragons, and Magic the Gathering. He can often be seen haunting Building 8 (please come say hi!)
Ocea Davis, Editor
Ocea Davis is a multimedia artist and aspiring Art Therapist based in South Seattle. Monochrome street photography, collaging with old magazines, throwing clay around, cooking up a storm and holding space for others (an art form in and of itself) are some of the things that make her world go round.
Up until Summer 2024, Ocea sustained a career as a bartender in the PNW for just short of ten years. Pre-pandemic, she worked professionally as a music venue photographer for the Central Saloon in Pioneer Square. Her natural habitats consist of dog parks with her wiggle worm, Valentine, and surrounded by outlets for creative expression.
In March 2025, Ocea's work can be seen and purchased at C&P Coffee in West Seattle.
Kyla Koinange, Editor
Kyla is a second-year student at Highline, planning to finish up their AA with an emphasis in English. She hopes to be involved in community organizing and empowerment in the future, using the experience she’ll gain as an Arcturus editor. Outside of academia, she views writing and artistic expression as an important part of the human experience and regularly seeks out new and well-loved books and films. She occasionally writes poetry, short stories, and paints but prefers to be inspired by the works of others. Kyla can be found obsessively listening to music or attempting to catch rare fish in Animal Crossing.
Austin McGlothern, Editor
Hi there! I am a Business Transfer degree student at Highline. I’ve lived in Des Moines for most of my life. I’m super pumped to be a part of Arcturus this year - the discussions we’ve had surrounding what we want this journal to look like have been caring and passionate. In my off time, I love to do improv theatre, play the drums, and keep up on my German on Duolingo. I enjoy writing very much and seeing why other writers made the decisions they did to include in their writing. I hope the work of your greater Highline community and our curation translates on the page!
Brianna Pilato, Supreme Editor, The Dictator of Literature and Conqueror of Academic Publishing
Hello. I am a student editor for Arcturus and it is exciting to look at the creative works submitted.
I have previously worked on the Thunderword Newspaper and before that I studied Graphic Design along with traditional art. If there’s one particular part of creating a written or visual piece that I love, it is the difficult but rewarding process it takes to complete it. At this moment in time I am pursuing a AA transfer degree with the aim of becoming a published writer in the future. In my spare time I may choose to read a variety of genres and practice a variety of art, including drawing, painting, and charcoal or just watch a movie.
